AR-Player for iPhone

Postby xavier » 22/12/2010, 17:11

I know one previously asked about smartphones... But, once again, it would be amazing to get an iPhone version of your player... Keep coding guys ! Great job ! :)

Any news on this? I´ve seen the video presentation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDJlhEXWVaA.

Would love to know when the app is available. Without it out-of-office demos are impossible.

Cheers

Hello all,
the iOS version of ARPlayer should be out in about a month and it will be available from the AppStore.
That video linked by c3038354, which is on our youtube channel, refers to one of our first approach to the iOS devices capabilities.

Hi.
And thanks for your quick reply.

Can you please say something about the hosting of the model when this is an iOs application? Will everyone with the app be able to see a 3D model or do they need to download a file first (from iTunes)? Does it happen through a web service?

Cheers, Eirik

Hello,
as for any .armedia file, there will not be a single, centralized repository of .armedia files. In fact, they can be hosted everyywhere.
Thus said, the official method to use the ARPlayer for iOS is the following:
1. the user installs "ARPlayer for iOS" in its iOS device from the appStore
2. the user will download a .armedia file for ARPlayer for iOS on its PC
3. the user connects its iOS device to its PC.
4. in iTunes, he will be able to drop .armedia files into the ARPlayer App. This action will copy them into the device.
5. starting the ARPlayer for iOS, the user will see a list of all .armedia files and then proceed to display the chosen one in AR.

We will also work on the "direct" download of the .armedia file directly in the iOS device. This means that there will not be the need to have an external PC with iTunes. In other words, the user will be able to download a .armedia directly from its iOS device.
Please note that this feature is not yet completed and may not be present in the first release of ARPlayer for iOS.

I hope this has been helpful.

Hello,
ARPlayer has been submitted to Apple Inc. for approval, so it should be a matter of 7-15 days at most. :D
As soon as Apple Inc. will make ARPlayer available on the App Store, we will update our website and products.
